Two More Top Recruits Add Tennessee to their Lists

Halloween didn’t just see trick-or-treaters but also saw a couple of highly touted class of 2024 prospects announce their top schools. 

As a couple more highly-ranked prospects announced their top schools, let’s see who else has Tennessee among their top choices. 

TE Michael Smith 

Smith announced his top eight schools on Monday. 

Smith’s top eight include Tennessee among South Carolina, Arkansas, Ohio State, Texas, Alabama, Penn State, and Florida.

Smith clarified his recruitment isn’t limited to these top schools, tweeting “My recruitment is still 100% Open, Just narrowed down the options i have now!”

Over 30 schools have offered the 6-foot-4 and 225-pound tight end. Smith ranks as a four-star in the class of 2024, and the No. 6 tight end. 

Tennessee extended Smith a scholarship offer in February. 

Smith helped his high school, Calvary Day in Savannah, GA., post a 12-1 record in 2021. Smith tallied 684 yards with nine touchdowns on 42 passes. 

WR Debron Gatling 

Gatling announced his top eight schools via Twitter Monday Night. 

Gatling has Tennessee in his top eight schools, as well as Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Penn State, LSU, Miami, Alabama, and Oklahoma. 

Gatling is a four-star prospect in the class of 2024, as well as ranked as the No. 39 wide receiver. 

As a sophomore, Gatling had 659 yards on 37 receptions, going for 11 touchdowns. He attends Milton High School in Alpharetta, GA. 

Tennessee reaffirmed the 6-foot and 172-pound receivers offer in January. He was on campus several times over the summer.
