Tennessee remains a touchdown-plus underdog to Alabama despite both teams depth chart issues

After a day to let the betting line settle and see if the points spread might move, Tennessee is still considered a significant underdog to Alabama when the two teams meet in Neyland Stadium on Saturday at 3:30 pm EST.

The Crimson Tide opened as a seven-and-a-half point favorite on Sunday and the line hasn’t moved since it was first announced, according to most sports books. It’s a difficult line to manage as it’s unclear if Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young will play quarterback for the Bama on Saturday. Young was replaced by Jalen Milroe in Bama’s 24-20 win over Texas A&M. Young’s availability for the Tennessee game won’t likely be known until game time as he is suffering from an injured shoulder.

The Vols also have an availability issue to deal with. Tennessee defensive back Jaylen McCullough was arrested on Sunday and is facing an aggravated assault charge following an incident that occurred when a man reportedly entered McCullough’s apartment mistakenly. Per reports, the alleged victim left the occupancy, apologized and was then followed by McCullough. The victim was found bloody and missing teeth by police and McCullough was arrested.
