Tennessee Recruiting: Jamarrion Gordon compares Vols and Alabama

Tennessee’s junior day was not exclusive to juniors this weekend.

Jamarrion Gordon, a class of 2026 prospect, was in Knoxville for the event.

A cornerback Jackson (Ala.) High School, Gordon was able to meet with Tennessee’s coaching staff to talk about his play.

“We talked about ‘Do I have a good attitude?” Gordon said. “Can I flip my hips? And stuff like that.”

The 6-foot, 175-pounder plays both sides for his high school, but likely projects as a defensive back in college.

Gordon’s favorite part of the weekend was looking at Tennessee’s renovation plans. The prospects got to watch a video showing the new facilities that are planned.

Gordon has also been in contact with Auburn and Alabama. To no surprise, the schools are hitting the Jackson, Alabama native hard.

Despite getting a lot of early attention from top schools, the Vols remain atop his recruitment.

“Tennessee would definitely be at the top,” Gordon said. “I love their coaching staff. Their coaching staff is one of the best.”

Something that stood out to Gordon was how much the staff made him feel welcomed. Compared to other places he’s visited, like Alabama, Tennessee’s staff put an emphasis on making him feel special during his time in Knoxville.

“They kept following me, talking to me,” Gordon said. “The other schools didn’t do that.”

Gordon sees himself being a versatile piece in the secondary at whatever school he ends up at. He is able to play at both safety and cornerback.

“I think I’ll be playing any spot in the secondary,” he said. “I don’t have a preference.”

Tennessee is in good shape early with Gordon, and their first impression is working. Auburn and Alabama are two places Gordon has been. Penn State is another school that has shown interest in Gordon as well.

With a couple of years until his recruitment really picks up, Gordon will be a name to follow.
