Less than a week after Tennessee football finished up with spring practice, the basketball Vols made a splash. Caleb Calhoun and Dave Hooker discuss the Vols’ key transfer addition and returnee for Off The Hook’s Wednesday, April 19 podcast. They also analyze the depth of the Vols’ NFL Draft class and look at the next Nick Saban or Kirby Smart. Jimmy Hyams joins. The show leads, though, with the NCAA news.

Vols begin NCAA hearing

With Jeremy Pruitt on hand, Tennessee football lis set to begin its NCAA hearing today that stems from violations committed during the Pruitt era. The hearing will last through this Friday. What can Vol fans expect in terms of a punishment that might be doled out? Is a postseason ban potentially on the table?

Tennessee basketball adds Jordan Gainey, returns Santiago Vescovi

USC Upstate Spartans transfer Jordan Gainey, the son of Tennessee basketball assistant coach Justin Gainey, has committed to the Vols. Meanwhile, Santiago Vescovi has announced his return to UT. Which story is a bigger deal? Is Vescovi’s return to Rocky Top for his super senior campaign somewhat overrated? At the very least, Rick Barnes should have better outside shooting.

Jimmy Hyams talks Tennessee football

Recently, Jimmy Hyams had a column on Off The Hook Sports discussing Nico Iamaleava and the future of Tennessee football. Hyams joins the podcast to discuss the Vols and the UT program as a whole. What’s in store for Rocky Top on the gridiron down the road? Just how great could they be in football, basketball and baseball?

Is this year’s draft class the deepest for Tennessee football since 2002?

It’s pretty clear Tennessee football will have the deepest NFL Draft class since 2017, when they had six players drafted. That’s likely the minimum this year. However, they could have up to eight, which would be the most since 2003, when they also had eight. Could this be their best NFL Draft class since 2002, when they had a school-record 10 people taken?

The next great college football head coach is…

Nick Saban set the standard with his Alabama Crimson Tide dynasty the past 15 years. Kirby Smart is reaching that standard with back-to-back national championships as head coach of the Georgia Bulldogs. Who is the next head coach in college football who could live up to that standard, or at least come close to it?
