Tennessee football landed in the top seven of elite prospect Nathan Roy on Thursday. The four-star offensive tackle released his top schools on Twitter.

Tennessee football was included in Roy’s top seven, as well as Wisconsin, Ohio State, Michigan State, UCLA and Southern Calif.

The offensive tackle told 247Sports that he plans on taking unofficial visits to Wisconsin, Minnesota, Ohio State, Tennessee, and Michigan State during the spring. He will announce his commitment after spring and taking official visits.

Tennessee will get the opportunity to roll out the red carpet for Roy this spring. Rated the No. 12 offensive tackle in the 2024 class, Roy is one of the top available players.

The Vols are late to the party for Roy, comparatively. Tennessee football extended Roy a scholarship offer on Jan. 19.

In-state Wisconsin seems like the favorite to land Roy early on. The Badgers were the first school that Roy has taken a trip to, and that trip wasn’t very far away. He was in Madison for Wisconsin’s junior day, and he also took a trip to Minnesota for its junior day.

After his visit to Wisconsin, where he met first-year head coach Luke Fickell, Roy spoke highly of Wisconsin.

“The new guys are just full of energy,” Roy told Badger247. “Really enthusiastic about everything. It didn’t matter if it was a presentation about something. They were really enthusiastic and driven.”

Tennessee has its work cut out in pulling Roy from Wisconsin. Ranked the No. 3 prospect in the state, Roy attends Mukwonago High School in Mukwonago.

At 6-foot-5 and 265-pounds, Roy’s size will translate to SEC football if Tennessee is able to pull him out of Big Ten country. In a conference where the line of scrimmage is crucial, Roy would be a big pickup for Josh Heupel and Tennessee’s class.

Tennessee currently has three commitments in the class of 2024 – four-star athlete Johnathan Echols, four-star cornerback Kaleb Beasley and three-star defensive lineman Carson Gentle.
