With the college basketball postseason underway, Tennessee basketball beat the Ole Miss Rebels Thursday to advance in the Southeastern Conference Tournament. Caleb Calhoun and Dave Hooker began Off The Hook’s Friday, March 10 podcast discussing that game and their Friday matchup with the Missouri Tigers. They then delved into Tennessee football’s transfer class before Fred White joined.

Tennessee basketball beats Ole Miss

The Vols beat the Rebels Thursday 70-55 to advance to face the Missouri Tigers in the SEC Tournament Quarterfinals. Is Tennessee basketball even trying in the tournament, though, or did they just win because Ole Miss is that bad? As two top 25 teams, do the Vols or Mizzou care if they advance any further?

Tennessee football’s transfer class

247Sports ranked Tennessee football’s transfer class No. 25 in the nation. Was that too high, too low or just right? Which transfer is the most underrated player in the class? Who among the transfers will be the most important? What level of excitement should Vol fans have for the transfers joining the program? Should they have gone after a quarterback in the class?

Fred White joins

Former Vol Fred White joined the podcast in the second block for a major announcement about a future YouTube series looking back on the Tennessee football 1998 national championship team in which former players from that team will be interviewed. White talked about the success of that team and the story of how it was born.

In addition to looking back on that year, White looked at the current Vols in the NFL Combine and drew comparisons between some of them and former Vols. Who do Jalin Hyatt, Cedric Tillman, Byron Young, Hendon Hooker and Darnell Wright remind him of? Was he too ambitious with some of his comparisons? Peerless Price, Tee Martin, Cedric Wilson, Kelley Washington, Leonard Little and Chad Clifton were all named.
