Heisman Talk: Tennessee QB Hendon Hooker is gaining more momentum

Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker’s Heisman campaign is gaining steam quickly and making up serious ground on his competitors. However, his odds have actually dropped a bit after the Vols’ 40-13 win over LSU.

Why? Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud has become a strong favorite to win the Heisman, which has affected the odds of all other candidates, including Hooker. Stroud is -155 favorite to win the Heisman Trophy, which means he essentially has a 60-percent chance of winning the award.

Hooker has pulled into a tie with Alabama quarterback Bryce Young to win the Heisman after Young did not play against Texas A&M due to a shoulder injury on Saturday. Southern California quarterback Caleb Williams’ odds dropped dramatically after the Trojans 30-14 win over Washington State. His odds were four to one last week and have dropped to 10 to one.

Why? Again, Stroud is pulling away from the field after his performance in a 49-20 win over Michigan State. It seems to be Stroud’s award to lose at this point in the season.

Hooker now has a +1400 chance of winning the Heisman Trophy, which is awarded to the most outstanding player in college football. His odds were +1600 last week.
