Four-star QB to visit Knoxville for the Tennessee-Alabama game

It doesn’t appear as if Tennessee will be hurting for quarterbacks as long as the Vols’ current coaching staff under Josh Heupel is in place.

Take a look at the Vols’ quarterback room currently and there might be a need to add some chairs. The Vols already have a Heisman Trophy candidate in starter Hendon Hooker and two talented backups in Joe Milton and Tayven Jackson.

The Vols also have another highly rated prospect set to enroll in January. Perhaps you’ve heard of him. His name is Nico or something like that.

Well, add another potential quarterback to the mix. Jadyn Davis from Providence High School in Charlotte, N.C., told 247Sports that he will be in attendance for the Tennessee-Alabama game. The four-star quarterback is widely considered one of the five best quarterbacks in the 2024 class.

Why consider the Vols with 2023 quarterback Nico Iamaleava from Warren High School in Downey, Calif., likely entrenched by the time Davis enrolls in college? Tennessee’s coaches – and the product they have been able to put on the field – have caught Davis’ eye.

“Just how Coach (Alex) Golesh uses the whole field and spreads guys out,” Davis told 247Sports regarding Tennessee in the past. “Looking back at Coach (Josh) Heupel and Coach (Joey) Halzle, their track record speaks for itself. They coached great players and developed great players. How they utilize the quarterback position and it’s kind of like Coach Halzle took time off as a college football coach to be a quarterback trainer, it’s kind of like having a quarterback trainer at a school I would choose.

Davis is also considering Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, LSU and Michigan among many others that have offered him a scholarship. The 6-foot, 190-pound junior will clearly have plenty of options. For now, Tennessee appears to be one, despite the talent ahead of him.
