By The Numbers: Jalin Hyatt alone is better than some entire teams

Jalin Hyatt has become a household name in college football circles. The Tennessee receiver has also become a statistical monster.

Hyatt has caught 40 passes for 769 yards, which averages out to 109.9 yards per game. That is tops in the SEC by 36 yards per game. Missouri receiver Dominic Lovett is second in the SEC with 73 yards receiving per game. How paltry. For the record, Hyatt is sixth in the country in receiving yards per game.

The junior receiver, who admittedly didn’t handle last season as well as he should have, has turned in eight plays of 40 or more yards receiving with his new humble approach to the game. That leads the nation. The next closest is five, per UT’s Sports Information Department. In fact, Hyatt has more receptions of 40 or more yards than 11 SEC teams this season. Not bad.
